Free resources for the desktop version?

I'm not really looking to invest in a base package at this time, and just downloaded the free engine for Mac, hoping to maybe check out at least a King James version or something. Seems like you're sort of forced to buy something if you really want to use this software, unless there's something I'm missing.

Are there no decent free resources for the desktop version? So that I can try out this software first before buying anything?

Yeah pretty much, not that I'm expecting them to just hand over everything for free, but at least a King James. Give me something to work with.

And the one full English bible translation that looks okay (LEB, not familiar with it) requires a credit card to download??? So eager to trade.

Logos has a 30 day free return policy. If you want to try a real base package you can buy it (yes it does require the money in the first place) but if for some reason you do not like it, you can return it and get a full refund within 30 days.

And for trying just with freebies, I would consider the faithlife studybible combined with LEB or Douay Reihms nice. Add to that RC Sproul and the newest themelios volumes and you paid nothing for some nice books.

this should give a decent opportunity to experience Logos at the most basic level. If you want more, you should give it a try and buy a base package (at least that's what I would suggest).

The first item on that list is the Perseus Library with over 1000 books. I would caution you that they are Greek texts. I have yet to download them simply because folks that do spend a lot of time either hiding them or using filter techniques to locate the books they use on a day to day basis. One might consider creating a separate account just to download that collection if you are really interested.

About half of them are Greek/Latin texts and half are the English translations. Yes, you will spend a lot of time hiding the foreign ones. And many people have decided they didn't want even the English versions after all (lots of obscure stuff and only a few really famous ones that you might want but they're available for free elsewhere too), and have asked Logos to lock the resource again so they'd disappear from their library automatically.
