Logos worked for months but now will not start.
It will finish loading if I hold the control and "load blank layout."

There is a known problem with L4 and the home page for December 31 (don't ask why, I don't know). Here are your options: 1) update to 4.0a SR2 (out since last night PST); 2) don't use your homepage until tomorrow; 3) manually change your computers date to something before or after today.
Known bug. Download (Update now) the latest update (SR2) and life will be happy again.

This obviously is not the issue. I ran this last night and all went well. I have L4 on two PC's. On one I ran the update (last night), on the other I was going to do it this morning. Both have the same issue of getting to the Home Screen, then shutting down.

There's the solution. It is now downloading ANOTHER update of 755.6MB. I ran all of this last night, I thought -- any idea what this is?

To do this, hold down the CTRL key as Logos4 starts and you'll be given an option to load to a blank layout.
This is roughly the size of the SR2 download, so maybe the SR2 download didn't complete last night, or you downloaded something other than the SR2 download.

Oh man, that is so funny. No one has been worried about this new decade and the bug finally caught up to us!
I back dated my computer, started L4, it began running updates (which it is currently doing). As soon as the updates began, I changed the date back to today. The program shut down, but the updates are still running. Who knows what will happen next [^o)].
Joe, do you know if this same issue is happening on the Mac? I haven't booted mine up yet, but am about ready to try it.

ROFL I am totally blown away by this! I was so frustrated when I went to start Logos 4 this morning and it would not start. After trying four times without success I called Logos Tech Support but was told there is a 40 minute wait in the queue (I suspect the same problem is causing this backlog). So after telling them I would call back at a later date I decided to come to the forums and see if I was the Lone Ranger with this issue. Lo and behold, here is the solution! Change the date on my system and everthing works fine.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have a sermon, Sunday school lesson and a set of Bible Bowl questions to finish before Sunday. I wasn't looking forward to doing it without Logos 4.

I was having the same experience, getting quite frustrated. Praise God for the forums!
I contacted Logos support this morning and they had me open up L4 while holding the ctrl button, open up a blank layout and then set up a new reading plan. After doing this I closed L4 and reopened it normally and it worked fine.
I don't know why that worked, but it did.
Yep ... had the same problem this morning. Took 2 deep breaths and eventually saw the download notice for lotsa megs. All is now well. Fixing the other machine even as I type this.
BTW: someone mentioned a concern about the "new decade." It is a full 12 months early to say that. [8-|] Reminds me of the [<:o)] folks who thought Y2K (2000) ushered in the new millennium. They were a year off, too.
