Should I purchase the starter kit?

Hey guys,

I recently purchased minimal crossgrades. I am completely new to Logos and still trying to figure it all out. I thought it would come with NIV, NLT, KJV, etc. I also purchased it with the large counseling kit.

I am going to be a Christian counselor, so that is my main reason for purchasing Logos. I already run Christian groups for women with anxiety issues. I was wondering if you guys thought it would be worth it for me to also purchase the starter kit?

I can't really afford more than about 20 a month, so the price would be right. I don't think for my needs I would need a higher one, but am not really sure.

Any opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am pretty heavily invested, so my opinion is going to be biased in that way. Never the less the more books the better. But if starter is what you can afford than thats what you get... I'd also watch the community pricing section of the webstore (and pre-pubs) for fantastic deals.

Generally speaking the bigger package you buy the more you save. if you are still a student anywhere then you can get a significant discount on most items. Also calling/emailing sales usually produces better prices than you could find otherwise.

I highly recommend Rusty Davidson as a salesman. There are many and all of them are good, but Rusty stands out. I've emailed him at weird hours, and gotten replies and items unlocked on my account within a half hour or hour or so... His direct line is: 360-319-2554

I wanted to list all the starter packs so you can look them over to see if one fits you best.... 1 is the generic starter. The Seventh Day Adventist starter is not yet released, but I would guess it is coming fairly soon. The basic starter is fine but wanted to make sure you were aware of all your options. I did not mention Verbum Basic+ (Logos Catholic software) since the NIV/NLT do not come with it.

LOL you are right, I had thought that it was in the Anglican for sure. but it was the NCV.

It's odd because the logos app on my phone includes some bibles/books that are not on my computer. I guess the licenses are different for each?

Yes, you're right. Logos has the licence to provide some bibles for free on the phone, but these may not be downloaded or used on the PC unless bought.

Make sure to install the free Faithlife Study Bible package which comes with some great infographics, the free LEB bible and LBD dictionary. EDIT: check out this site for links: http://wiki.logos.com/Free_Logos_Books /EDIT

A very affordable thing is the NAS bundle: https://www.logos.com/product/8734/nas-electronic-bible-library (but some of these may come with a Starter package, if you buy one).

EDIT: (posted too soon...) Also a treasure with much content hidden in the details: https://www.logos.com/product/38876/wea-theological-resource-library-version-3 (some overlap may occur) These plus some books in your specialty may give you much usage of Logos without the starter package.

Also of note are the Counseling & Women's Studies Bundles.

Perhaps they may be of interest to you as well, though I'm told the conservative nature of most of the material oriented towards women can be offensive to some - so its value and your mileage may vary.
