I have to admit I'm still not too sure on the syntax of searching although I have read the docs I seem to stumble in the execution. (Would love to see some examples of higher end "comparative searching" -self-described term)

Anyway...

Is there a way to search LN in a range, in some cases skipping specific domains? Above is the only working method I had any success (Bible Search) with though I tried other forms. Maybe the domains I'm trying to isolate are too broad while I'm being too specific but it would seem that I'm working harder than the capabilities of the software.

Sorry, musings of a geek. I was looking at your list and thinking how neatly it could be expressed in a search query using "Regular Expressions". A common tool for geeks that makes Hebrew look easy. As for Boolean operators, those are the logical operators that Logos uses in their search queries. Once again, I apologize for lapsing into Geek.

Ranges of LN numbers can be done with a dash.
Gaps between words means "OR"
ANDNOT was not necessary because the dashes provide that function.

(<LouwNida=LN57.125-129> OR <LouwNida=LN57.55-58> OR <LouwNida=LN57.60>)

NOTE: I only searched the ESV...which bibles are you searching?

With your's I'm getting 5 results in 4 verses on LGNTI

On mine I'm getting 140 results in 126 verses on LGNTI

I think I'm getting incorrect results do to the patch.. I may need to merge indexes. (Nothing is showing up from the new interlinear NLT when I do all bibles)

I gave it a try after my index merge. I don't think its working right as it only shows result for the last LN domain of 57.60 while my original listed result for each.. so I think the problem is the dash (<LouwNida=LN57.125 "-" 129>)

With Robert's version ((<LN57.125-129> OR <LN57.55-58> OR <LN57.60>) -acquire -provide -take -taken -taking -took -get -seizing
-bought -brought -succeeded -bring)) I get 140 results in 126 verses. This is more correct as well as more abbreviated. As a final step use comma for OR:-

(<LN57.125-129>, <LN57.55-58>, <LN57.60>) -acquire -provide -take -taken -taking -took -get -seizing
-bought -brought -succeeded -bring

The problem is the ANDNOT terms as this will eliminate glosses of that value irrespective of where they appear in the verse ie. glosses not associated with the LN terms will be eliminated from the results. So let's go back to this equivalent query:-

(<LN57.125-129>, <LN57.55-58>, <LN57.60>) ANDNOT (acquire, provide, take, taken, taking, took, get, seizing, bought, brought, succeeded, bring)

and use the correct operator NOTEQUALS which ensures that only glosses aligned/associated with the LN numbers are eliminated:-

(<LN57.125-129>, <LN57.55-58>, <LN57.60>) NOTEQUALS (acquire, provide, take, taken, taking, took, get, seizing, bought, brought, succeeded, bring)

gives 146 results in 132 verses.
