OT: Psalm 31:19-20, a Blessing for the New Year

Dear Logos Forum friends,

I was reflecting on Psalm 31 in the NLT this morning and was extremely blessed by verses 19-20 and wanted to share it with you as a blessing for the new year (and decade).

 

How great is the goodness
you have stored up for those who fear you.
You lavish it on those who come to you for protection,
blessing them before the watching world.
You hide them in the shelter of your presence,
safe from those who conspire against them.
You shelter them in your presence,
far from accusing tongues.
Psalm 31:19–20 (NLT) 

My prayer for each of us in 2010 is that we would fear the Lord and seek his protection so that he might lavish the greatness of his goodness on us in public blessings "before the watching world" and protect us from all conspirators and accusers "in the shelter" of His presence.


Thank you, dear friends, for how so many of you have enriched my ability to study the Bible as well as my life in the last months of 2009.

The first reading at Mass this morning was Numbers 6:22-27

 

 

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:

Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying,

Thus you shall bless the Israelites: You shall say to them, 

The LORD bless you and keep you; 

the LORD make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; 

the LORD lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. 

So they shall put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them. 

May this be a year in which the peace of Christ is experienced profoundly by us all...
