BUG: Notes File Randomly Deleted

I had a pretty important notes file in my L5 library. When I came to my computer this morning to do some work I noticed the file was missing. I thought "no big deal" so I headed to documents.logos.com only to find that the document is not there even as a deleted document.

I loaded up the Layout that has this document in it, and it now has a placeholder "Untitled Notes" file. Any ideas on what to do? I'm kind of freaking out.

Call customer service / Tech support immediately and ask them if they can restore it.

i would contact Logos Customer services (https://www.logos.com/contact) and not do anything else with Logos until they have had a chance to look at it

Well I just got off of the phone with support and unfortunately it appears that my notes are gone. Gone gone. Poof, disappeared. They aren't sure what happened. Time to put my sad face on.....

This brings up an important question that has probably been discussed in the forums before. What are the steps, if any, for backing up Logos user/personal data?

This is probably something I should be doing.

I asked that question and they told me you need to backup the "Documents" folder in the App Data location. You can get there by searching for logos in the start menu, right click and go to properties. Then click in that window "Go to File Location" and it takes you to the brain folder of Logos. They told me you have to be VERY careful not to change anything though. Not a real good backup solution if you ask me.

A roll-back of the Documents folder can create problems with database versions (a crash!). If it survives that the recovered note file could be deleted by Sync, so you have to open Logos in offline mode, make a change to the note file, then go back online; when your other docs should also be brought up-to-date with the Logos server. But this was supposed to be rendered obsolete by documents.logos.com.

I backup the Logos "brain" folder, but it's no good if the document was created and lost after the last backup!

Yeah it's not a good solution at all. The cloud is great, but there still needs to be solid ways to backup locally.
