Sermon Starter Guide finds no sermons related to laziness, and yet...

How is it that the Sermon Starter Guide finds "no results" in the Sermons section, and yet the Collections section, using my "Sermon Collections" collection (see rule below) finds lots of them?

Here's my "Sermon Collections" collection rule (it still needs some tweaking), which includes 581 resources:

(title:sermon OR subject:sermons OR mytag:sermons) -subject:homiletic -subject:preaching -title:"how to" -subject:illustrations

What resources are being searched for the "Sermons" section of the guide? I've got a ton of sermon resources, so you'd think it would find something.

I think that the collection section depends on a fairly basic search. The sermon section depends upon specific tagging which has been released for < 20 resources.

Yeah, that must be it. The Collections section appears to be looking in largetext only, which is good, because most of the hits are quite relevant.

I wonder how long it's going to take before the Sermons section is useful at all? Logos has a huge back catalog to go through and tag sermons, and judging by their track record, I think they might get through another 20 resources a year doing the sermon tagging.

They are resources tagged by bible reference from what I can deduce. The ones listed by Mark Barnes will give you a good idea (a mixture of series and titles).

Guides based on a Sermon Theme (text) are not useful. Try a guide based on Bible reference --> here I typed "laziness":-

The Collections section gets results from resources that quote the bible reference (range or part hereof) i.e. a search for <Proverbs 6:6–11a>.

The results from "On laziness" are less than helpful until you use the correct range Prov 26:13-16 (sluggard), and I get nothing from Sirach.

Here's my "Sermon Collections" collection rule ...

My rule is subject:sermons. Applying -subject:illustrations removes the Nelson's Annual Preacher's resources and My Favorite Illustrations whilst preserving the ten Logos tagged resources I have. subject:homiletic affects "homiletical" and "homiletics" and some potentially useful resources (but no tagged ones).

I thought the thread was going to be about the irony of using a "Sermon Starter Guide" to preach on laziness. Perhaps the SSG filters out such searches to prevent people from reflecting too deeply on the existence of the feature.
