What is indexing? How do I track the rate at which my computer is indexing (I have a 15" MacBook Pro)? Does this mean that I am downloading material from the internet? If I order the Disc, does it need to index?
Thanks,
Noah
What is indexing?
Welcome to L4 and to the forum. L4 builds an index of every word in every resource in order to speed searches.

Unfortunately, you only have an indication that indexing is taking place along with an estimate of how long it will take. In many cases, this has developed into nothing more than a wild guess.

No, Indexing takes place after downloading is complete.

Yes, every resource in L4 is indexed. This is what gives L4 its speed increase in searches. You won't see much of the increase in the Mac version right now as it is still in the Alpha stage and searching is not yet optimized.
If you have access to Windows, run L4 there (your license covers both platforms) and you will see where the Mac version is headed in about 6 months or so.
Think of a book. If you look in the back of a quality book you will find an index. The index directs you to certain pages in the book and ties everything together. That is what indexing is in Logos. So when you think about what your program is doing when it is "indexing" it is quite amazing.
