Odd error on website: "You already own..." for a pre-pub that never existed before?

I just clicked "Quick Buy" to place an order for a new title that just showed up in pre-pub: Wagner’s Parsifal: An Appreciation in the Light of His Theological Journey. The pre-pub order went through (apparently) but I got a banner across the top of my browser with the error message" You already own 'Wagner’s Parsifal: An Appreciation in the Light of His Theological Journey'." How could that be? It never existed before, and I don't have it in my Library.

I'll remove the mystery of the error message as I was able to reproduce the issue you see. I'll enter a case to address the bug you found if one doesn't already exist.

It appears you're much to fast for our web servers and you were able to press "Quick Buy" more than once before the page refreshed. So it got in your first click and thought about it for way too long and you got in another click. And so the second click determined that you already owned it and kept you on the page saying that you already ordered it. Hmmm... actually it says you own it, that message seems wrong as well. 2 birds one stone.

I don't *think* I clicked twice. I never get impatient with websites and click buttons a second time, so it's quite unlikely I did that. But if you can think of no other cause for this behavior, then maybe I did.

Hi Rosie,

I took a look at the logs and while it "appears" to the server that the quick buy was requested twice something else in the logs has me thinking it could be another issue that might have caused the duplicate request.

So now I'm not convinced my answer is the root cause, but fixing the issue in repro I found would have made your experience much better.

I would like to chat with you offline about what happened, if your up for that, to see if we can figure out what might have happened.
