I can't see how this would work: highlighting is by definition linked to specific words. Since there are differences in wording from translation to translation, it cannot automatically transfer from one to the other.

    Sorry, no. Let me explain.

Logos has two kinds of notes which can be attached to a resource.

    1. Notes attached by "reference."
    2. Notes attached by "selection."

Notes which are attached "by reference" appear in ANY and ALL versified resource at that location. Notes by selection, however, are attached to the sentences, words, and characters you SELECT. Highlighting, by definition in Logos, is a note "by selection." You "select" the text you want to highlight.

If Logos were to implement highlighting by reference, it would mean that you couldn't select individual words or phrases to highlight. It would be an "all or nothing" deal. Another option would be to implement highlighting by lemma. Of course, that would only work in translations with a reverse interlinear attached, and would really only be useful for those who might want to draw attention to original language words. Highlighting a phrase in one english translation might look very silly in another since the word order might be completely different!
