sign-in problem

I have been having to sign in every time I open Logos. I know the normal setting is that my credentials are to be saved and used automatically, but this is not taking place. Here are the latest logs. Any help would be appreciated (not a major problem and has been taking place but figured it would take care of itself with updates but didn't).

I am using it on a MacBook Pro: running OS X 10.9.3 (an Intel Core 2 Duo, with 4 GB, I installed a SSD).

The message is "Couldn't protect user's password: Data protection failed" because "Improperly protected user's key pairs in '/Volumes/MacBook Pro Data Drive/Users/michaelhatcher/.config/.mono/keypairs'". I don't know what this means but Logos or another Mac user may be able to assist.

I just checked the file on my iMac (OS X 10.9.3) that Dave pointed out in the error you received. It appears to be an encoded file made up of numbers and letters and has a file extension of "xml". It may have something to do with your keychain but of that I'm not sure. Also it's possible the file may be corrupt, however, I don't know how you would go about correcting it. As Dave advises, it may be best to wait for someone from Logos support to look at it.

The permissions on a folder aren't set properly; to fix it, open a terminal and run:

chmod 700 ~/.config/.mono/keypairs

It sounds like you may have some other permissions errors on the files in your home directory. I think the best thing to do at this point would be to contact Customer Support and reference this thread.

Hi Michael,

I apologize for the inconvenience. As Bradley mentioned, this is a problem caused by incorrect permissions on your keypairs directory, but I suspect we may need to work up to this directory, by first correcting permission on its parents. You may want to go through all 3 commands outlined in our support article: https://www.logos.com/support/logos5/mac/sign-in

If that doesn't work, I'd recommend contacting your system administrator or an Apple technician for help repairing your Mac Account's permissions at the User or Root directories.

Here is the results:

Nominal convention is files and folders with user's home directory are owned by user, not root.

Suggest running command to change ownership of ~/.config folder and folders from root to michaelhatcher

sudo chown -R 501 /Users/michaelhatcher/.config

Note: sudo prompts for your password. When running a command using sudo, use fully qualified paths since ~ for root is different.

Next run the commands from => https://www.logos.com/support/logos5/mac/sign-in

chmod 755 ~/.config
chmod 755 ~/.config/.mono
chmod 700 ~/.config/.mono/keypairs

Please run list command and reply with output:

ls -alnR ~/.config

I signed in and had to use my credentials (as expected). I closed down the program, and then I signed in again with no need to use them. Thus it is working properly now.
