Data folders after reinstallation

I just did a repair of my Win8 installation - which left me needing to reinstall all of my programs.
I now have a windows.old folder that has the entire directory structure of the original windows folder, and is 51 Gb in size - of which about 40Gb is in the Logos 5 data folder - with 4 sub-folders.
I have also reinstalled Logos 5, and the new data folder has only one sub-folder, with around 13Gb of data in it.
Two questions:
1. Is there any need to keep anything that might be in the old Logos 5 data folder(s)?
2. If not, then that means the difference of 27Gb between the old and new installations represents a lot of wasted space due to duplicated data (apparently). Why does this happen?
Thanks.

This is correct if you have only one Logos user account. The folder name is a randomly assigned "user identity", and if you sign-in with another Logos account the data and documents will be stored under a new "user identity". This implies that you previously used four (4) Logos accounts OR that you copied a Data "user Id" folder(s) from another installation.

I have only one account and did not copy any data from another install.
It's been at least a couple of years since I ran into this, before, but then, as I recall, it had something to do with indexing at certain points created duplicate folders with different (cryptic) names.

I can only speculate about the cause, but there is no need to keep old data as you are now back to normal.
