I ask because I was interested in getting involved if there could be a type of 'community' help.
Is the process similar to scanning real pages into images, then using a word recognition and fixing the mistakes? Is it limited to hand-typing all resources? A process of just taking digital copies and formatting them, like a Personal Book?
Is there an automatic indexing process for a finished conversion that adds the words from the work and indexes them to the catalog of Logos? Similar to when you add a Personal Book to your library and it indexes immediately. Then you can search and pull results from that source.
In all of that, is there a way to open the conversion to the community in some way? I'd be happy to spend around 7 hours a week (hour a night) or so converting the books if it fell within a helpful and simplistic method. That may not seem like much, but with the drive and enthusiasm behind the Personal Books, I can't help but see others helping and driving the pace of some of the pre-pubs being published. Maybe there could be a deal in compensation on the price for those who helped.
I guess one immediate concern would be having publications in the hands of users without pay; but if it were broken into pages/fragments, like samples are given, then that could be avoided. Or maybe leave a finishing process (like indexing, coding, etc) to be finished by Logos so all work has to be sent back through for processing? I'm sure there are other positives/negatives, just trying to jump-start the topic!
I was just curious if anything like that existed. I'm very thankful to Logos and dedicated to the cause and their existence.
