Logos doesn't have a "price matching" program. They extend publisher offers in Vyrso when they are able to. Note: Those are PUBLISHER extended offers. Logos resources, on the other hand, are "value added" and come under different licensing agreements. As a fairly strong rule, you don't ever see these offers extended in Logos.

That's what was missing in your first reply and explains it all. I didn't realize that Multiply was a Logos edition and not a Vyrso one. Many of Chan's other books are Vyrso titles, so I made the mistaken assumption this one was too.
Most of the time when people ask Logos for a freebie that is offered by publishers elsewhere it's on a Vyrso title. When Logos overlooks a publisher offer of a freebie, and users point it out on the Vyrso forum, as has happened a couple of times in the past, Logos has responded by offering it for free as well. It's not "price matching" -- just passing along the publisher's special deal. I thought that might be possible here too, but since it's a Logos edition, clearly that won't be happening.

I assumed something too. [:O]
I assumed it was clear (but after re-reading, I know it was not) when Floyd said it was available from LOGOS. I knew him to mean "Logos edition" because 1) I own the resource and know its history and 2) I know that Floyd knows the drill. [:)]

I assumed he meant LOGOS the company, which puts out the Vyrso titles. Only he can tell us what he was really thinking, but if he knows the drill then he probably shouldn't have been asking for this. [EDIT: Oops, I just realized it wasn't he who was asking for it.]

Bump - my only thought in posting this was to make others aware of the free book. Because LOGOS and/or Vyrso offered the book, but not the deal, I posted information without giving a specific link. Sorry for stirring up such a hoopla in the process.

It would seem (to me) that the Chan resources were moved from Vyrso to Logos so that Logos wouldn't have to price match on them. There's no added value in having these as a "full Logos resource" because no extra tagging is needed. I would rather have all my books in one place but free is free
And once I've read it I'll probably not need to look at it again.0 -

Given that it is only publisher discounts that Logos tries to match, what is your reasoning for this?

Logos resources don't discount to match publisher discounts, therefore if a title is in "Logos format" it will not be discounted as as been mentioned repeatedly in this thread. If this Chan title was still available in Vyrso it would be free today and this thread wouldn't exist.

I have a somewhat different understanding of how a publisher discount works. However, it doesn't matter. I'd prefer to have almost no Vyrso resources, have little interest in most its titles, and hate the free/sale marketing technique rather than the offering of a set, fair price. "Free" simply means I'm paying more for something else.

i am not sure why they were moved, but that motivation doesn't seem to click with me. Vyrso gives away hundreds of titles each year. Why pick on poor Francis? [;)]
Actually, it may simply be due to page numbers. My guess is that these might be used as supplemental text books by some colleges.

Baker has many good titles - especially in their Brazos Press label, which I do wish could be searched for separately on the site... That said, IMHO the signal to noise ratio is often fairly low with Vyrso.

From what I've read publishers love the free book model because it results in much bigger sales after the free period to those who missed the freebie. That's why so many books are offered free in Vyrso, et al. So therefore you aren't paying more for something else because their greater sales result in more money to offer more books and more freebies in the future
