It's possible that these have actually been published in print with the mismatches (cover vs. title page)

... however, the title page spelling the author's name "POOL" seems to be in line with the printed (and google-scanned) version. Just saying.

Right. The title page should be considered official for the title in most cases and that should be reflected in the metadata. Author's names on the other hand are normalized in the metadata, so variant spellings of the author's name would not affect the metadata.
