Suggestion: bible study guide finder guide

I would like to see Logos create a bible study finder guide that works like the sermon guide. Someone on the forums has created a great personal book that works in this way but I think that it would make Logos more powerful and appealing to new customers if they added this new feature.

I actually still use the old lesson builder and I think that it would be nice to have something like it in L5.

there is a need for this type of "practical" tool- have never understood why this tool was not conformed to the newer Logos upgrades. I thought Logos was all about tools for ministry- but seems like it hasturned into a book club for eggheads

I agree with you in general. I'd like to know what specifically you would like to see in the Guide.

Isn't this what the "Sermon Starter" guide does? It helps you build lessons/sermons, doesn't it? Or was there a special way in which the Lesson Builder used to work that is not a part of the "Sermon Starter Guide"? Where's the link for the Personal Book that you mentioned? I'd like to have it to get an idea of what you are talking about.

No, the Lesson Builder was a collection of questions and notes from common Bible study guides that one could select individually. One could also add one's own notes and questions to build a student handout tailored to a particular group. I'd be happier if even the resources behind it were all available in Logos now.

The Handout section together with Clipping files are the closest one can get to it in Logos 5. If Logos tagged study questions and allowed user tagging of clippings that actually were usable for searching, the feature could easily be available in a "modern" form.

There would even be some benefit, it they simply made a "lessons" section similar to their "sermons" section and allowed reading plans to be split by lesson rather than leveling the reading load. Then the lessons in Logos could be useful in Faithlife.

Then let's start a campaign for Logos to bring this feature back and improved to Logos 5.something or Logos 6 at least. I think Morris Proctor used to have the rights to the Lesson Builder when Logos decided not to sell it anymore. If my memory serves me correctly he owned the rights, since he purchased/acquired them from Logos.

Yes! I'm all for it!!

The "handouts" functionality never really got past the "annoying to use phase" for me. The Sermon Guide has it's usefulness and limitations, but a fully developed feature like a "Lesson Builder" for Logos 5 has always been on my short list.

The question is, since Mr. P has more or less said they wouldn't develop any tool of this sort of caliber within Logos, how effective would this campaign be?

I won't mention the software "bloat" factor... oh wait I just did.[:P]
