Originally $399.95—get it for $199.95

The Logos blog seeks to encourage people to sign up to the prepub of his sermons by saying that:
Get 50% off 3,000+ sermons by John MacArthur Originally $399.95—get it for $199.95
Now as this is a prepub it has never been sold by Logos and it has always been $199.95 on prepub so how can, in any sense, it be said that this was originally $399.95 as it has never been offered for sale at this price.
Now I understand what Logos mean (I think) in that it will be $399.95 when published but if that is the case this is what they should say. To make incorrect statements to encourage sales is not a trait that encourages trust. Given the many gaffes by sales I had presumed they would be more careful in the future, but apparently not.
If I am wrong and it was originally $399.95 then I am happy to apologise and crawl back under my stone.

I saw and pondered as you, but I just let it slide as well-intended but misapplied. Technically, the "normal" price was probably set first and then the sale price derived from that, so in that sense it could be called original, even though it hasn't actually breathed air.
