I have adjusted the scale of L4, experimented with fonts, experimented with font sizes, but my L3 text looks crisper and more "distinguishable" than L4. I am wondering if they did something to reduce eye fatigue?
Yes Logos4 has been experimenting with softening the fonts (it's a WPF thing, I think). The most recent release these were sharpened a bit. Some, like you wish they were even sharper. Others, think they are to 'harsh' like this.
Maybe this tells us that users want this to be some kind of adjustable setting.
Want to make it a suggestion?
Thanks for the info. I will make it a suggestion and hope they use it! I like it a bit sharper.
I was quite surprised when I tried the first beta at how blurry the text was.
4a is a little better for me with the updated default font, but still has a ways to go - I find it weird that so many people want their text to be blurry - hopefully someday we will be able to have crisp text with an option to "soften" it if we want to.

It's mostly a matter of monitor resolution, DPI and stuff like that. Lower resolution monitors, and low DPI's (etc) will make things look blurrier than very fine DPI, higher resolution monitors. I have two monitors, different manufacturers and native resolutions and L4 looks better on the better monitor.
