Closing Tabs and Panes
Also, there is a right click option to close all tabs in a pane but not to close all open panes. Is it necessary to have a blank layout or is there a way to close everything (keyboard shortcut or some such)?

The best way to close individual tabs is to use your mouse wheel. Clicking it will close the tab. This works in most web browsers too.
There was talk of adding an X to each tab, but they felt this took up too much space. One option that's been discussed is simply hiding the X until you hover on the tab, but I'm not sure if that will make it or not. The lack of an X in each tab frustrated me at first, but now I've become accustomed to using the mouse wheel click.

I'm sure that I'll get used to it, but at first sight an X on the corner of the pane suggests that it will close the whole pane and not just the active tab. There's no toottip to suggest how this X functions.0 -

I'm glad the choice was made to not include an X on every tab, I agree that it may be a little confusing at first, but in terms of screen space I think that in this case the change in workflow is worth the hassle ...big clunky toolbars at the top of everything is one thing from 3.0 I will not miss.

I'm accidently deleting files when clicking on the ‘X’ button under the Notes tab (maybe I need to get used to it) as it can be mistaken for the close button; solution, either a undo tab or have it to have a message that pops up asking confirm deleting.

Phil,
thanks for the tip on the Middle-mouse-button/wheel!
Works like a charm.. [;)]

Does everyone have a middle mouse button/wheel? I do, but I'm not certain that everyone does.
Come to think of it, on my laptop I have a center button, but on two other laptops in the house I do not.
You might need a work-a-round for this one for the non center-button-mouse people.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Ctrl-F4 will close the currently active tab, as well.

Three other options are:
- The X for the panel
- Ctrl+W
- Ctrl+F4

Let me add my vote for this. I have Firefox set up this way and it's the best. [Y]

Hi Richard,
Try using Ctrl+Z to 'undo' the deletion of a note. Ctrl+Y works for 'redo'.
