Hebrew Audio shipping on Monday! WOOT!!!

I never thought I'd live to see this day:
Order now while it's still in pre-pub if you haven't yet:
https://www.logos.com/product/5960/hebrew-audio-pronunciations
Now let's pray there aren't any last minute glitches over the weekend, and that there aren't any MAJOR flubs that we discover in the first week like we did with the first release of the Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew with Logos Bible Software DVDs (a wrong letter in the Hebrew alphabet in Lesson 1! Ouch, how embarrassing). Please, Logos, I hope you've proofed this one carefully. I've learned through experience (time and time again) to expect disasters for major new products like this, which isn't how I want to be anticipating it.

I always prefer to set myself up for the worst case scenario and then be pleasantly surprised, rather than risk being blindsided by bad news I never saw coming.

Evidently both, though his emoticons are in the reverse order of my optimism/pessimism switcheroo.

It also requires Logos5 users to have at least the Minimal Crossgrade (as it needs the Lexham Hebrew Bible).Neither of these statements is true. (Sorry for the incorrect information; I'll try to follow up with Sales.)

Guess i will put it back in my cart. Here is the email i receive just a few minutes ago
Hi Steve,
The Hebrew Audio Pronunciations will not work with Logos 4. You are correct it requires Lexham Hebrew Bible. You would need at least the Logos 5 Minimal Crossgrade. Your price is $xxx.xx (including tax). Let me know what you would like to do.
God’s blessings,
John GroceEDIT: Bradley, feel free to delete both of my posts in this thread!

I've had this resource on order since 2/5/2010, and there are some who go back even further. It's the longest-standing pre-pub in the history of Logos, I think. Bob Pritchett has documented some of the bumps in the process of getting this done back in 2009 and 2012; Vincent Setterholm provided another update in 2013.

I should clarify. It doesn't need the LHB, but the pronunciations are for the lemmas in LHB. If you try to use a different Hebrew text (e.g., AFAT or BHW), you may not be able to get a pronunciation for every word.
However, since all English reverse interlinears are now based on the LHB, you will get good results there. All pronunciations are also available through the "Pronunciations" Tool, just like the Greek Lemmas are.
We would like to include conversion tables that make the Hebrew Pronunciations work better with AFAT and BHW (where possible). However, this would have made the resource incompatible with Logos 4 (and we wanted to be able to deliver it to customers who owned Logos 4 when they placed their pre-pub order, and still haven't upgraded).
It's possible that we will ship a Logos-5-only update that makes the resource better for Logos 5 customers. I'm not sure when this might happen... hopefully it won't take another five years. [:)]

O.K. Rosie has talked me into it. Although I probably will never learn Hebrew.
Being able to pronounce words might be helpful. On the other hand, pronouncing can lead to confusion. 20 years ago my wife and I were at a restaurant in Lyon, France. While Lyon is known as a center for good food, less known is that they have confusing menus. A couple of college students noticed us puzzling over the menus and offered to help. The girl helping me was totally confounded that I was able to read the menu aloud, even with a good accent, but I had no comprehension about what I was reading. Elle dit: "Vous comprends!" Mais, je ne comprends pas.

It is exciting to see this become a reality.

FYI, for those who were wanting to hear some sample pronunciations before deciding whether to buy this, they've now updated the product description page with a video that shows the Hebrew Audio Pronunciations tool in use. It's very cool!

Logos customers are really faithful. Reminds me Jacob waiting for seven years.
By the way, because I live in the European time zone, I'll get the product on 15th, so I have to wait one day more than others [:(]

If they ship it by 3pm Pacific time it will still be the 14th when you get it. Anyway, you won't have to wait any longer than any of us, you folks in Europe just call that time a later time. But it's an arbitrary imposition on time due to historical reasons (agriculture and train schedules and such). Who needs to go to bed when the sun goes down? [:)]

Just chatted with someone on sales via the website: for some reason the item isn't greyed out for me, and I wanted to make sure I still had an open pre-pub.
And I was told it would be another 4/5 hours before it ships.

Indeed. Now my longest standing prepubs are NIB and NIDB, both shipping within a month. After that it will be two new volumes of WBC I'm waiting for, and then The Works of Jonathan Edwards. Those are the last of my longstanding prepubs that are under contract.

Mine downloaded. I tried it out in my ESV 2 Chron 25:1 for the word "years". It pronounced it. I then tried "children" from the subsequent verse 4. IT SAID THE SAME THING! Knowing zip about Hebrew, I repeated both verifying that the spoken word was identical.
It appeared to be broken until I examined the underlying lemmas to discover that, for some reason, they are the same. Testing other words gave me differing results and restored my faith in the tool. It is bizarre that I chose two words with such varied meaning in English that would have the same Hebrew lemma.
So now I have the same Hebrew pronunciation tool that I have enjoyed in Greek for many years. Thanks to Rosie who pointed this out.

Hello, David. On the first instance of 'years' in 2 Chronicles 25:1, notice that there are two lemmas on that English word ('son' and 'year'), and you get different audio depending on which lemma you select. It's part of an idiom "the son of twenty and five years" that the ESV renders 'twenty five years old'.

Thank you for your prompt explanation. Due to my total lack of Hebrew knowledge I was amused rather than alarmed. Idioms are the bane of casual language enthusiasts.

Can anyone explain the pronunciation of melek (מֶ֫לֶךְ, king, ruler) to me, as shown in the video on the product page.
I always presumed it was pronounced melech, but Logos pronounces it nearer melechs, melless or melex. Other words with a final kaf are pronounced as I would expect.
Is there something I don't understand here?

Perhaps, while we have a coterie of people interested in Hebrew assembled on this thread, we should ask if there are variations in Hebrew pronunciation like there is in Greek. Do the pronunciations in Logos match modern Hebrew?

The information in the pronunciation tool window (open the window and click on the i) explains that. It's modern Hebrew with a couple of variations. The text there explains the variations in Masoretic and earlier Hebrew, as far as we know them.

There does seem to be a little extra air at the tail end of that clip that gives the release of the final kaf a slightly hissing quality. I'll flag it and see if Dr. Buth wants to re-record it (he's very busy teaching over the summer, so it won't be immediate, but we have plans for a bit of additional recording).

The program curiously spells some words rather than pronounces them at times.
For example check the word "die" in Genesis 3:4
