BUG: Citation weirdness

1. I entered Hosea 14:2-10 into a Passage Guide while the NRSV was my highest priority Bible. It was converted correctly to LXX-S Hosea 14:2–10.

2. I opened a Text Comparison tool to see what translations used what versification.

3. I then opened a Pericope Comparison window and discovered it did not show a verse 10.

4. So I changed the highest priority Bible to the NABRE which has verse 10. Closed and reopened the pericope comparison. It still does not show a verse 10 although 3 of the 4 Bibles shown have verse 10. The versification for the pericopes should correspond to my highest priority Bible or (perhaps) the first column in the display. I have no clue how it chose it.

It shows vv. 1- 9 for the majority versification scheme but it will show the alternative versification (e.g. LXX-S 14:2-10) if you hover over the pericope title of those bibles with v10.

TC can afford to show the correct verse numbers in each bible.

But when I use nothing but Bibles with the 10 verse length, the side still uses 9 verses ... what versification I don't know ... and implies that the pericope break is before verse 9 when in fact it is 9b or 10 depending on the versification. I realize that they need to do some smoothing to make the tool work ... I should check some of the odder sections of Jeremiah ... but I think this solution expects too much from the user.

I doubt that this tool has been touched since Logos 3, where the "majority versification scheme" was very clear.

One of the major improvements in Logos 4 was its ability to handle diverse versification schemes. While I don't expect every tool to be redone immediately when capabilities take a leap forward, there is a point at which legacy becomes liability. And in this case, something as simple as annotation could resolve the confusion.

It's probably using the "bible" data type, i.e., a generic versification that aligns with many common Bibles but doesn't necessarily match any specific one.

The versification for the pericopes should correspond to my highest priority Bible or (perhaps) the first column in the display.

Thanks for the suggestion; we'll consider it the next time this tool is updated.
