This book is written by Abraham S. Yahuda. I am pretty sure that this is in PD. There also appears to be a German version of it as well, apparently the original. Logos could offer that in CP for the German crowd, too.
Also would like to have The Accuracy of the Bible by him, as well.
Just from the example, I'm sold. Only someone from Egypt would know there's two Egypts (Upper/lower). This is the same today. Only people from the western hemisphere would say 'Americas'. Europe and Asia would only say 'America'.
Sorry, Denise, but every schoolboy knows about Upper and Lower Egypt.
LOL...every "old school" schoolboy, perhaps. [:D]
I'm not so sure that hold true today. [:S]
The author was arguing that Mitzraim as a dual form (MT) and its cognate in other Semitic languages in a non-dual form, demonstrated (among other examples) that the hebrew reflected an Egyptian background.
I thought that was a bit of a stretch in the logic. Like the Americas vs America is a generation description; not necessarily a geographic origen one.
If I remember right, 'Egypts' was pretty heavily embedded in Hittite, etc. The Hittites occupied the location just north of Egypt (northeast of the Jezreel valley).

Three thumbs-up for a small collection of works by Abraham Shalom Yahuda (1877-1951):
The Language of the Pentateuch in its Relation to Egyptian V1 (i.e. sans appendix with hieroglyphics)
Medical and Anatomical Terms in the Pentateuch in the Light of Egyptian Medical Papyri
The Accuracy of the Bible
These books are of such value that facsimile editions are still in print. They would be great in CP.
