I've done what I can: still in at $24, & am fine if it goes for more...

This should go for a maximum of $60. I bid $48.

Even thought I don't understand or agree with it there must be lots of people who are willing to pay $96.

I must be a complete idiot. They preset CP at a given amount and I've always gone along with it. Not like that's bad, but here it's not such a prime item.

I changed my bid. Thanks guys!

Everyone needs to change their bids to $48, it will stay in CP longer but it will also cause others to bid- $96 is a rip- if it closes at that will cancel my order- but hey they build in a buffer so that will not natter.

I agree: this set is worth about half of the current peak price of $96.

This CP needs a full-court press of sanity to counteract the current trend. I bewailed this tragedy when it first came out. I honestly don't understand how people think, and I'm not sure "think" is the right word. $48 is the absolute MAX this should go for, and I support $36, though I can understand bids of $24 or $48. Again, this thing has been sitting stagnant for months when similar 2nd round CCCs have long ago entered PrePub. I don't know how many times it has to be pounded out over and over, again and again and again, but these stupidly high prices IMPEDE the CP from crossing the line. If this had been priced at $48 or lower at the outset, then it would probably already be in people's libraries by now.

I'm going to suggest $36 as the focus price point, and here's why: we have people advocating $24 & $48...$36 is in the middle. Also, I am 100% of two things--it WILL cross the line at $36 relatively quickly with the influx of new bidders that price will generate, and once that price crosses, it will almost certainly drop to $24 or very close to it. I don't think there is anyone who is in desperate need of any of these, so dialing back the bids to $36 won't hurt anything and it will likely get this in people's libraries just as fast and for 1/3 the current price. That's $60-70 I would be happy to apply to another purchase.

If you have bid higher than $48, it is imperative that you reduce your bid NOW. Why waste money? Drop those bids!!

At $36 it is just a bit over a dollar per volume--certainly a fair price, and it will also certainly fall even lower. Let's crank up the CP retooling department like we did for the Witherington course and get this down to a happy place. [Y]

I don't agree with this tactic. Most people will look at the curve and think they will have to bid higher to get in. Our best bet would be to try and move the peak from $96 to $84, which would then encourage people to bid around that point. Once we've done that, we can then move our bids to $72, and so on. We might never get to $48, but I fear if we aim for $48 we'll be left at $96.

Logos should start all bids at the 80% off level. Lets be honest with ourselves, all these works will end up padding some "bundle" or "base package" someday. When you pay more than 80% you are financing someone else's bargain. (Same thing is true of Pre-pubs, they all end up in some sale for less than the Pre-pub price.)

I'd just like to find out who is the bonehead who started this thing at $96 and drag them out behind the woodshed. [:@]

Just a gentle reminder to be gracious. Although I don't agree with the strategy of bidding that high there obviously are many people who want this resource enough to bid that high. Let's continue to help people understand how the price can be lowered to a level that will appeal to us all.

In the light of what I already have on Romans, I remain to be convinced that it is worth bidding on this set at all.

My intention is to get it to $24, so I am not going to promote $84. But any bid dropped from $96 to a lower bid is a big help, even $84.

    You bid $36.00 on 12/5/2013.

Most CP commentaries are good in the $1-$2/book price, so 36 for 32 is what I'm shooting for.  I have all the CP and CP upgrades so I want this, but $96?? ack!

I'm convinced also- dropped my bid to $36 from $48- if it hits it I buy- f not I'll let it go. I have already deleted many Pre-pubs just before release dates; dropped several CP after they hit pre-pub.

I started not seeing much value in most the offerings lately, like this Romans bundle, old books, some will have value some will simply rehash issues of their day. The previous CP Romans I have found I only have actually used 6 of the books on a regular basis.

So though I'm now at $36, no guarantee I'm all in, we'll see.

My guess is that there are many people who are in the same position. I know I am but I can't justify the current price.

Just a few hours ago, there was a small but obvious peak at $48, but that peak is almost gone now. That means that $36 has received a number of bids during that time. Even without having the top peak, if we can demonstrate momentum at $36 and surpass $48, that will influence others to drop their bids and new bidders to come in as well.

So, why wait? Be a LEADER, not a follower. Lower your high bids now and know you are saving yourself enough money to take your whole family out for dinner and a movie (unless you are Matt [:P] [:O]), and if you haven't bid yet, know that you are a mover and shaker who is influencing others to do the right thing and save money in the process. Bid $36 now, and then wait and watch as this thing ends up closing closer to $24. It can happen and will happen if you lead the way.

    $96??? no way.

As I have said before, I don't understand it either but it goes to show that there are many who have taken this strategy ever after this thread began. The only things that I can think of that make sense to me is that

    1. People don't mind paying that much for the set
    2. People hope that bidding high will cause it to go over 100% more quickly and then will lower or cancel their bid later if the price is too high

I'm in at $60 which is higher than I prefer, but I'm hoping that something lower than $96 will cross at 100%.

If just a small number of those who bid $96 will lower their bid it will no longer be the highest percentage which will attract more bidders.

In at $24 the price point of $96 is just to much, I did not bid before because at 96 it was just too much...
