Roger Standing is the principal of Spurgeon's Bible College in the United Kingdom and has written some excellent books.
I was referring to one of them, this morning:
"As a fire by burning: Mission as the life of the local congregation".
The book is in two parts - in the first, he includes insights on mission in different contexts from a wide range of people, in the second he looks at how a focus on, and awareness for, mission should affect everything we do as church. While written primarily from the context of what is happening in the UK a lot of the insights would, I think, be widely applicable.
Another book of his which I have found very helpful is one on "Re-emerging church" where he looks at some of the challenges churches face in engaging with people who want to get involved in church again as they retire.
And his thoughts on Narrative preaching are also helpful.
Thanks, Graham
