Step 1: enter "anger" in Topic Guide

Step 2: click open Sermon Starter Guide on Anger

Step 3: as nothing happens since all sections are closed, click to expand a section

Everything works as expected.

Step 3: as nothing happens since all sections are closed, click on Go arrow beside "Anger"

Funny thing - the topic changed on me. The reason - "anger" is replaced by the first entry in the drop down menu ... even though I never opened the menu nor put focus in the entry box. SSG simply decided that the TG didn't know what it wanted and overrode it. Aaargh ....

While many of your bug reports are excellent especially finding the subtle ones, I think it's important for proper prioritization to distinguish what is a bug and what is a usability issue. A bug is it is not doing what is intended.

In this case, to me you have explicitly said to go search, so it selects the first entry to search against - while not obvious at first it's not a bug.

I only mention this with charity, because there are quite a few legitimate bugs that need to be addressed, it would be good not to fill the forum posts with things that are not really bugs so as to obscure the ones identified in the forum that truly need attention. While Logos should and I am sure does review and evaluate reports, it's easy to miss things in the forum.

Having spent a career in administrative applications at a large university, I take an approach similar to what I encouraged my clients to take - let me know everything that fails to work as they expect. It was my job to educate them if their expectations were in error AND to notice usability issues if many people made similar errors. The primary difference is that they lacked forums as their primary means of communication. Bradley (of Logos) and I have discussed the distinctions between bugs, design flaws, usability issues and enhancements - and we don't always agree but I believe we generally understand each other.

At the present time, my concern is with introducing Logos as the base for parish-based small group Scripture study. As such I am looking at Logos from the perspective of what a newbie user would expect to happen using the links and defaults provided by Logos. I use "BUG" to bring it to the notice of Logos. I assure you it is more frustrating finding the problems than reading the reports of them ... and better for Logos to know all the issues associated with a function and fix it "once and for all".

So I appreciate your concern, understand your position, and thoughtfully disagree and will continue to report all issues and encourage others to do so as well.

Note: I do think is a bug for Logos to build a topic guide, enter a topic and not make that topic the top choice.
