Convert search or visual filter to highlighting

Is there any way, with a script or otherwise, to take search results hits, or visual filter markup, and apply a permanent highlight to said same? This would be a great way to see my visual filters on my iPad. Or is there a way to select multiple locations in a resource and then click a highlight to apply?
