Use Amazon's kindle printer to send Logos docs to your kindle

Amazon has "print to kindle" function that can be used to export to kindle rather conveniently.

The installation file for PC is here http://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle/pc

For Macs http://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle/mac

Although the printer appears in the list from the print/export dialog in Logos, I was not able to send directly to kindle from there. What worked for me was the 2 steps method: (1) From the Logos print/export pane: save as file (doc, docx and rtf are supported). (2) Right click on the saved file and click on "send to kindle". In the dialog that appears, pick the device where you want it sent (if you have more than one). Done.

I have not had the chance to test extensively. If someone finds a way to print directly from the Logos print/export, I'm sure many would like to know.

Thanks, Francis. I'm clueless on device interaction behind the scenes. But a printer device with direct-to-kindle would be great! Two steps ... well 'ok'!

Wonder how it handles image heavy pdfs, or pdfs that are outright scans? does it just save the image, or is there ocr going on behind the scenes?

Graham, this is not it at all. The send to Kindle functionality I am speaking about is a program from Amazon that installs a printer driver. As such, it can be selected from the print menu in Logos. However, I had error messages from Amazon when I tried to print directly to Kindle. So I used the 2 steps approach I referred to earlier (still simpler than what Mark was using previously).

I think Graham was thinking of this post: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/81953.aspx, which is the same method as yours, with an additional tip to help with the 100 page limitation.

You can't really send them directly from print/export because the Send To Kindle printer will then treat them as a PDF, which stops you from resizing the font and reflowing the document
