Does anyone know how to convert Pdf into html ? I have tried everything, all the programs are junk !
From your statement you haven't tried Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I have it and have no problem converting pdf documents to html documents. It is an expensive program, but they do offer a free fully functional 30-day trial download at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/tryout.html
I was looking for a free tool, but that does help. Thanks for your post.
If you want a more cost effective product that is as feature rich, try Nuance and their PDF Converter Pro. 20% the cost, all the features.
I also have Nuance PDF Converter Professional 6. It does a great job and I actually prefer it for ease of use, but it doesn't convert PDF's to an html document.
It can save as a Word doc and Word can save as HTML.
Adobe also has an online site that does free PDF to HTML conversion. You'd think the inventers of PDF format would be able to get it right. I haven't tried this, though:
http://access.adobe.com/access/
The PDF file has to be up on a website to use this (you've got to give a URL), but there are tons of free web hosting services where you can store the file if you don't have your own website already. Windows Live Spaces, for example.
Like most approved PDF converters, the Adobe site adds a significant amount of "garbage" to the output to insure that you are not trying to recover the text for illicit purposes. I've not found any PDF to HTML converter that works well as input to PBB - not to say there might be one, but I did a reasonable but unsuccessful search.
I finally said forget it. I found out I can get public domain books in epub format. I was able to transfer a book from epub to word so I can edit. Live and learn. Now I just have to re download all of my public domain books. Oh well...
Thanks for all your help guys....
Does anyone know how to convert Pdf into html ?
ABC Amber (http://www.processtext.com/abcpdf.html)
Mobipocket Creator (Mobipocket.com) does this well. You can also use this program to generate kindle compatible books. But it does a good job of converting pdfs.
I have converted many PDF documents into HTML that ended up as PBB files. I used ConvertDoc at URL:http://www.softinterface.com/Convert-Doc/Convert-Doc.htm. I think the original cost was ought of this world, but the owner of the company lowered the price to $50 when i told him the reason i did not want to buy it was because the cost was too high. I bought it at $50 and still think it was a good investment.
God bless! -JoeK
Joseph,
Were your pdf files scanned in. I used the acrobat trial, and when I extracted the text from the image, I was missing stuff. Even Acrobat did not do a good job.
Thanks for all your help guys
Blair, i gave up on the PDF image documents, they were more trouble than i wanted. The PDF's i worked with had to be in text format. My mode-of-operation was to create PBB files fast in an automated fashion, thus i refused to spend too much time manually fixing documents. -JoeK
Thanks, that is what I found out. *the hard way*. I epub format is working fast and efficient.
