This digital age has improved the accessibility of tools to learn a language but there is a danger that people rely too much on these and shortchange the process of really learning that language and culture surrounding that language.

Great observation, Bruce. Culture is context. Failure to understand language within its cultural milieu makes us likely to misunderstand.
