Verbum: Is it suitable for me?

I have Logos 5, 5.2a.SR-7 (5.2.1.0171), Original Languages (KF) with many extra resources, but as a Catholic I am interested in Verbum. However what I like about Logos is that is is suitable for all, it studies the Bible in its entirety and not in any confessional way. So is Verbum narrow and divisive? Can I continue using all my resources? What package should I get to buy extra resources with minimum duplication and reasonable cost? I do not want to be excluded from the community of those studying the Bible in any way.

I would appreciate comments.

I own Verbum Capstone but I still run the Logos interface. I am not Catholic so I can not guess what value you may find in the Verbum features. I have noticed that every Catholic user I have heard comments from is pleased with Verbum over Logos. The good thing is you can switch back and forth between the two interfaces.

Another piece of good news is you don't pay twice for resources. You will get dynamic pricing across the two resource libraries.

You are not excluded from anything. And you get things like:

- Liturgical Layout

- Catholic Topical Index

- Saints Database

You also have the entire Catholic canon treated as scripture. I am an Anglican who was raised Lutheran. I certainly do not agree with all Catholic Dogma and positions, but that said I cannot imagine using anything else other than Verbum. I am not saying Logos is bad in anyway, but Verbum feels a better fit for me, and I would guess a better fit for any actual RC, as well as a better fit for most Anglicans, Lutherans, Orthodox.

verbum.com (sister site) prices are the same dynamic pricing applies, you only pay for what you do not own.

Don't know about any coupon offers, but on the web you can go to https://verbum.com/#compare It will only charge you for what is new so there will only be minimal duplication (eg. RSV is different from RSVCE, Also two different sets of Church Fathers)

Of course, you can call Logos as well to speak with a rep to try for a better deal...

As a Roman Catholic user of Logos/Verbum myself, I think that you will love using Verbum. Reading through the Catechism with active links to Scripture, Vatican 2 docs, etc., is incredible.

You can visit http://www.logos.com/verbum and use the comparison tool to get upgrade pricing and to see what all resources are included in the different levels of Verbum.

You can usually get your best pricing by working directly with a Logos sales rep. Here's Mark Wheeler's contact info, although I imagine you could probably just call the main sales number and ask for a Catholic sales rep.

When you shop for your Verbum package do not worry about any duplicate resources in the package. Your Verbum purchase price will be reduced by the amount of duplicate resources contained. They call that "dynamic pricing."
