Does right to left support for Hebrew matter on Mac anymore

Just out of curiosity, I copied and pasted a line of Hebrew into a word processor document. The WP in question doesn't support right to left, but the text looks fine. I'm sure if I was writing the Hebrew out it would possibly make a difference, but just for saving some text in my notes is this still an issue? I'm using Mavericks, so maybe that's a factor.

It worked the same with 10.8, and perhaps even earlier. Don't type Hebrew, so I cannot comment on that aspect. It is possible to combine Hebrew and English on the same line, but this requires some forethought and a bit of experimentation.

For my purposes, MS Word is  workable with right-to-left, but probably not for more serious exegetical work.
