BUG: Reading Plan's (Today's Readings) will not load
I did a clean install from the Amazon app store. Everything seems to work fine except the today's readings section will not populate. The grayed out wheel to the left simply spins counter-clockwise and "loading" is shown next to it. This has gone on for hours.
I am running 4.3.7 on a Kindle Fire HD 8.9

This almost certainly means that your library has not updated successfully (we can't get the resource info to show in "Today's Readings" until the library has loaded). Can you try killing the app and restarting it, then going to the library screen? I would expect that to trigger a library update...you should see a progress bar at the top of the library list (maybe after waiting a few seconds), then you'll get a subtle popup message at the bottom of the screen that says "Library updated" when it finishes.

I did a force stop, restarted, went to the library screen. After a few seconds the progress bar stopped and the message "library updated" flashed at the bottom of the screen. "Today's Readings" will still not load.

I can chime in here too as I'm having the same issue on my newly purchased Galaxy Note 3. I had the problem, uninstalled & reinstalled the app & kept the phone away while the library updated (since I know that this can cause issues). Still the problem persists.

I think we were just able to reproduce the issue and we're looking into it. It appears not to affect everyone, which is interesting.

Okay, figured out what's going on. There's an issue with the metadata the server is returning for the resource "Malachi: Easy Doesn’t Change the World". This is causing the library catalog update to fail for anyone who owns that resource.
The good news is that this can be fixed with a server-side change, which we'll be looking into as soon as someone gets back from lunch. [:)]

The problem has been fixed on the server, now we're just waiting on the server to re-index some resources, which usually takes about 24 hours. Sorry for the delay, but once that finishes, we should be all set.
