iOS App REQUEST: In Split Pane Keep the Bible Central

I really love the iOS app that Logos has produced. I think it is elegant and very easy to use. Powerful too.

There is one suggestion I have that I believe would make Bible study even more of a pleasure on the iOS app.

When I am reading the Bible or any other book and I come across a verse of passage that I would like to use my passage or exegetical guide on I like to pull up a split screen with the Biblical text on one side and the specific guide on the other. So far so good. My suggestion comes in when you click on a resource from your passage guide to view its contents. Currently, when you click the link, the contents of that resource replace the pane that the Biblical text was in while keeping the passage guide visible. I would like to request that this be reversed. Could you have the passage guide open its links within the same pane it is currently in leaving the Biblical text visible? Then, put a back button within that content pane so that once the user is done reading the resource they can simply navigate back to the passage guide to then take a look at the next resource they would like?

The idea here would be so that when I'm reading a commentary, for example, I am able to have the Biblical text that is being commented on up side by side with the commentary instead of the having the passage guide visible in that moment. The passage guide being visible at that moment is simply taking up space, whereas if the Biblical text was there it would be useful to look back and forth to as you consider what the commentary is saying.

Can we assume you then want the Passage Guide to be re-gen'd over and over as each resource is reviewed?

As I mentioned on another thread yesterday, it's far easier to keep 2 (I keep 4 open) Logos Bible apps open in iOS ... one with the passage guide and clicked-on resources, and the other your Bible and maybe your commentary. Far more efficient.

Denise, I'm not sure how everything works but is that really the case that it would be re-generated each time. I just went in, opened up split screen, ran a passage guide, opened a commentary from it in another pain, then jumped to a Bible reference from the commentary which populated the Passage Guide pane. Then I hit the back button and it was all still there. Seemed to work just fine.

So, continuing your research, can we assume you want your commentary to replace itself when a resource reference is clicked on? (For user consistency)

Just my own 2-cents, I suspect the present approach is more in line with everyday use (a resource of interest with a click-on opening in the other panel). Definitely if I had my NET Bible open, I'd want an NET Notes reference click to open in the other panel; not my NET Bible.

Denise, actually, your example serves well as why the ideal scenario would be having an option to open the resource in the main window or the second window since sometimes it just comes down to type of resource and user preference. When in the Passage Guide it makes the most sense to replace the guide as you go in an out of resources while keeping the Biblical text stable. When using a resource like the NET Bible you would doing something different and it makes complete sense to use those in separate panes. In the event that I was using the NET Bible with my Passage Guide I would prefer to use the pop-up windows for the NET Bible's notes. Which would lead to another request where the pop-up notes are able to scroll so you can see the whole thing there if you wanted.
