Logos5 cant complete startup process

Was doing an update/upload on 18th, I didn't have time to wait for it to finish so I walked away letting it run its course automatically. Later I shut down the PC, then when I tried to restart the software hasn't been able to complete the startup process.

Symptom: Logos icon appears for a few seconds, then disappears and nothing. Tried this a few times, same results. Went to Logos.com/forums and following directions found there, tried to view hidden files.... no luck. I looked at the Log files, but it was like trying to read ancient Hebrew (I can't read ancient Hebrew).

Help, ministry school has started and Logos5 is a key tool for getting my homework done. Got home from work a bit ago and tried starting Logos up and it made it to "Signing In" and the wheel just keep spinning and nothing visibly is happening.

Sorry you are having troubles Brad. [:S]

You have provided "error" logs, but generally what is needed is the logos.log file. You must first enable logging to produce that file. See the wiki for more.

Have you tried loading to a blank layout? I believe on windows you press and hold the control key immediately upon startup... but I could be wrong on that.

You might also want to try downloading the newest engine, released today. See my signature line for a link.

I went to the Wiki, and attempted to open as instructed. Rt click the desktop icon, then hold down ctl and select open. The Icon flashed for about a second and nothing. I had the task manager open and saw Logos start its process then close right away.

In the Logos Log Files folder their are only 4 files, none of them are titled, "Logos Log". I have, awesomium, Logos, LogosError, and LogosError2.

In the opening post of this thread I posted the 2 error files, here are the other 2 files. I pray one of these is what is needed to help get the software functional once again.

I'm confused... You say you don't have a logos.log file and yet you posted it here! [;)]

I am on my iPad, and so I am unable to read logs at the moment. I did suggest, however, that you manually update your engine. Did you do so? If not, you should.

As Alabama suggested, you need to update to the latest release. To do so use the Windows installer found in this thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/88169/620360.aspx#620360

The Logos.log file is not a normal Logos.log file. So I'm not sure what's going on. The latest Error in the error log is from 2014-08-18, so whatever happening is happening very early in the start up process. I believe a fresh install of the program engine (using the installer above), should fix this. If not, report back.

Because you have extensions (.exe, .log, etc.) hidden by default, you only see Logos instead of Logos.log. Go to Control Panel** and make sure sure you are viewing it by Large Icons, below

Then select Folder Options and click View. De-select "Hide extensions for known file types" and select "Show hidden files, folders and drives", and click OK. Go back to Control Panel and select Programs and Features. Find Logos Bible Software, right click and select Repair. Try to start Logos again.

If this doesn't work or you are having difficulty following my instructions I suggest you contact Logos Technical Support on Monday and they will help you online.

** in Windows 8 select Control Panel from the Charms Bar, after selecting Settings.

Thanks for the help. After it came back up earlier this evening, I did follow your suggestion along with others and have uploaded to the latest version and made it so I can see the extensions on my files.

At the time when I incurred the original stoppage there was no Logos.log file. However, after logging onto the log and checking one last time one was there that only showed activity from me attempting to open the program a couple of times. Any how, a huge thanks to the team for your help. We are all blessed by your team's wisdom, time and patience.

I would suggest that you also check "Show hidden files, folders and drives" as part of the Logos installation path is hidden.
