Complete Resources of all kinds of Libronix and Logos in one page or pdf file

I want to ask for the benefit of all that the Logos team if possible can put all Libronix and Logos resources whether downloadable or boxed or whatever kind in one page or pdf file that contains the title. the author, and the cover page If possible. so all and every one can see in just one page what he is missing or needing. With being updated from time to time. Thanks Logos

Yes I agree. But maybe the list can be divided into categories like according to the alphabitical order for instance or another way of making a division of some sort.

You can see a list of all the products organized by category on the Logos website here. It's not quite what you want, but as Bohuslav pointed out, a single list with all the products on it would be quite unwieldy and I'm not sure it would be quite as useful as this list organized by category. Here you can skip over categories that you definitely wouldn't be interested in and delve further into those ones you might want to buy more resources from.

BTW, I'm not sure where you got that figure, Bohuslav. I got a total of 6988 when I added up all the numbers in the list grouped by category, and there's probably some overlap in those. There are a total of 6766 downloadable resource files on the Logos ftp site: ftp://ftp.logos.com/lbxbooks

Thanks. I wasn't questioning that Bohuslav had heard it somewhere, but it doesn't jive with what's actually available. I wonder why the discrepancy.

There are a number of variables to consider:

items no longer available for sale
items from third parties
items closely bound (such as volumes in journal) that download only as a single item

I'm sure you can more than double the list.

It is not a complete list. It does not include third party resources.

But as an aside, if the webpage Rosie gave offers categories, why cannot we have these as predefined categories in L4?

Predefined collections, you mean? Yes, that would be a good idea. In fact, I've asked for it before. Why should everyone have to take the time to reinvent the wheel to set up their program when they first buy Logos if the info is there already and could be made available for all.

It's not a complete list for three reasons:

1) It doesn't include discontinued products. No need to list those since there's no way people can buy them anyway. David seems to want this list in order for people to be able to check what they're missing that they might still want to buy.

2) It doesn't include third party products. I don't think Logos should be responsible for including and maintaining a list of all the third-party products that are not available on Logos's website; what if that third party discontinues something. Maybe this wouldn't be all that big a deal. Are there really a lot of products sold by third parties for Logos format that Logos doesn't sell from their website? (I know the Galaxie journals, for example, are available through Logos.) Maybe I'm just not familiar with what else is out there...but then again I don't need any more enticement to find more Logos products that I want to buy!

3) It doesn't include every single volume in multi-volume journals. Is anyone really suggesting that every single volume have a separate listing in such a list if they can't be bought separately?

I'm still not sure why the categorized list I pointed to wouldn't satisfy David's needs, except for the third party issue.

Er ..a... isn't this is list a proposed as potential sources? I didn't mean them as facts, merely as the type of thing that could cause the discrepancy in numbers.

Your original question is valid. One the the big problems in Libronix/Logos is the organization of the Library. There are people claiming resources are missing and to my knowledge while some have been resolved, others have not. Logos has the list. They know what is/was/has been available and could easily produce a list if they want to. As libraries grow bigger, people dont remember what is and what is not in their libraries. A full list/index on the website of all 10,000 resources or so is not asking too much. For me, the problem of organizing the libraries is better in L4 than it was in L3, but it is still lacking. I cannot be sure that all resources I have purchased over the years are in L4. I am sure that I have all Logos resources, but whether a third party resource was lost in L4...I remain unconvinced that I have all my resources. A list of third party resource would be helpful.

Some may argue that third party resources are not the responsibility of Logos. I would strongly argue that this is not true. Unless Logos has changed long standing policy and practice of making a library that many companies can contribute to and has decided instead to monopolize, I would suggest they have a responsibility (especially now that they have surprised everyone with L4) to make sure customers can believe that what Amazon has done with Kindle books does not happen with Libronix books.

Sigh. Sorry about the apparent disagreement. We're talking about two different things here. I accepted the explanation for the discrepancy in numbers. I also (now) accept the usefulness of a list that includes all those other resources, though I didn't at first think it was important because of the categorized list that Logos already provides, which I thought would satisfy David's need. But I misunderstood his need. I thought he was seeking ideas for other products to buy that he didn't have yet (which Logos's list would be sufficient for). The need to verify precisely what resources you have to see if it matches what you think you should have (which Mark Swaim later brought up) has convinced me, though, that a single list in one place including every resource that ever was in Libronix or Logos format would be useful.

Since I'm convinced now that this is something which Logos should make available to us (I'm sure they have it in some private database in Bellingham), I'm also going to suggest that they should include in the list, not only the basic publication info (title, author, publisher, date) but also the LLS Name, filename, base package(s) that it is/was available through, collection(s) that it comes included in, list of titles included within this resource (e.g., if it is a 5-volume product that is only sold as one product but where each volume has its own separate title, give those titles so we can search on them), whether it has been discontinued, and whether it's a third party product (name of that third party if so).
