I've never read any of the sheffield guides, but the price is right on this Daniel one: $2.99 - Regular price: $29.95
DAL
Which translates into $13.80 if this 130 page booklet was a more typical 600 page book. At the print price, if this was 600 pages it would be $207.44. Just musing on Numbers instead of Daniel.
Anyone know how good these are?
Well its a major university (Sheffield), and so if its anything like american major universities their seminaries are more towards liberal than I am as a southern baptist (by quite a bit). Also if you happen to have a degree in journalism and can teach at the highest levels you can make 70-100k usd a year.

It is not only the Daniel book that is at a lower price. Look here
I don't know what you mean. The deal I got was $2.99 the others are in the $15.95 to $27.95 range, that's not a good deal for me. Unless they made a mistake on the price and have now corrected it, I don't see any good deals on those guides anymore, only the Danial guide which, again, was $2.99.

Several are showing in the $2-$4 range for me on the link...
Strange. For me it's only Daniel. Do you get Academic Discount?

Yes, that appears to be the reason why. When adding one of the others it shows the Academic Discount being applied.
Strange!! I agree with DAL. You must have a special customer status?
Hmm..., maybe dynamic pricing on individual titles!! [:|]
You can read about the author and understand his perspective here. It's brief. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_R._Davies

Not special, just cash strapped due to tuition costs for both me and my wife. After practicing law for nearly 20 years, I decided to embark on a new adventure and enrolled in seminary (part-time for now) two years ago and my wife decided to finish up her Bachelor's degree finally. Between the cost of raising the kids (4 with one on the way) and the two of us in school, the Academic Discount is a blessing! [:D]

[N] wow passing this one by too. Imagine not believing the archaelogical evidence?!!!
Sarel...none of these Sheffield books looks useful to me. Thanks though. The seeming LACK of perspective and belief is disarming in this series.
They do have a reputation of being rather liberal compared to most or even all Theology University Departments in the UK (they are not a seminary). You would need to ask an ex-student of course.
John (living in Sheffield, the city, not the University!)
Imagine not believing the archaelogical evidence?!!!
This is a misrepresentation of the fall of Albrightian archaelogy. An accurate description would be "imagine believing just the archaelogical evidence and what it actually shows rather than what we hoped it would show." Certainly in some cases Albright may prove to be correct but it is not yet proven.
