Search Results are for NLT, but this is not the translation that I prefer.

Can you tell me how to remove (or lessen the priority) of the NLT in my iPhone app. for search relsults?  Whenever I do a search the results are the NLT first (then the NKJV, then the HCSB, then the NASB95, then the ESV).  I don't use the NLT or the HCSB translations and prefer to get the results of the other translations first (e.g. the ESV or the NASB95 first).  This will enable me not to have to swipe through allof the results (including the "more books" steps).  Any guidance on how to change the order for the search results?

Have you tried going to Logos 4 and selecting your preferred bible to be ESV or whichever bible you want to search on your iPhone?  It should place the bible on the top of the list of your preferred bibles, which I think would be used preferentiallly by your iPhone (searches, popup windows etc).

    Tony,

I have the same issue with my iphone.  I have prioritized my bibles in logos 4 and don't even have NLT in the priority list but have the same problem, search results are in NLT.  But in my case, only NLT.   I will be following this post as well.

Search results are ranked by relevance. The NLT just happens to have the best match for your query. I think the real issue is that we need an easy way to let you either search just your preferred Bible, or to specify which resources to search, as you can in Logos 4.

Thanks for responding Bryan.  I just noticed that since I did the most recent update (or perhaps I just noticed it) I was able to select certain books/resources under the search feature if I first select the "Basic" tab and near the top of the search screen and then select the "Entire Library" tab.  This gives me a number of resources, which include the ESV, but not the NASB95, for which I am thankful.  I have no idea how the options that I have to select from were chosen (preset?, random?, I selected somehow without knowing it?), but there are at least some options.  When I start a search by selecting the "Bible" tab first, the tab to the right (which did say "entire Libraray") now says "Top bibles" and I can no longer select anything further.  It would be helpful to have help screens to get one's arms around these features.  Would like to be able to select my resources, as you said.

Another really helpful thing would be if the search results for the iPhone searches did not simply get listed as: "Chapter 11 - NKJV" or "Chapter 5 - ESV".  What book of the Bible is it that is being referred to?  What if one is looking for a reference in Ezekiel and the search provides 20 references and none list the BOOK, just the CHAPTERS and the BIBLES?  Then one can't determine which of the search results they are looking at without selecting each one.  The search relults are also not listed in the order that the books of the Bible are listed, further preventing one from easily determining where the desired reference is.  When doing a Bible search, why not at least list these in order of the books of the Bible and also list the actual ref. (for ex., "Ezek. 4:15 - ESV" instead of "Chapter 14 - ESV")?  The way it works now makes the fabulous tool rather more complicated and less valuable.

The items in this list are recently viewed resources. We could probably fix the problem easily by adding recent Bibles to the Bible search collections list. We don't use Bible references in basic search result titles because the basic search is intended to search non-Bible resources as well. The Bible search does use references in titles because that search mode can only search Bibles.

Bryan, that does not appear to be the cause.  So, for ex., if one does a search for "David" the results are page after page of results for David all in the NLT Version.  So, it is not that the NLT is the best match (the match for something like "David" are going to be the same in any given translation), it is just that the NLT is listed first somehow in the priority of Bibles.  For me, this is so frustrating, that I would be willing to try to delete the NLT to get rid of the problem, but then I might get the ASV, who knows, since I can't seem to prioitize which Bibles I want to do a search in when using the Bible Search.  Thanks for talking me thtough these issues.

BTW, my basic question is being unaddressed here.  How can one set the "Top Bibles" in Logos so that the Bible Searches will only search those Bibles?

My apologies, you are correct. The /basic/ search is ranking by relevance. Bible search is ranking by version, then by verse. It looks like the Bible search is correctly selecting your preferred Bibles, but it is incorrectly sorting them in the results list. We should be able to take care of this issue on the server-- soon I hope.

How can one set the "Top Bibles" in Logos so that the Bible Searches will only search those Bibles?

You can rank them in your resource list in Logos 4. The Top Bibles collection is the top 5 Bibles you have ranked there. If you have ranked less than 5 Bibles, then the rest are filled in with some defaults, which is probably where NLT is coming from for you.
