Added a new commentary type: Study Guide Commentaries.

    Thanks for the update Mark;

For some reason, Logos/Faithlife has labeled the Psalms volume of "Not your average Bible Study" as type:monograph, thus only 11 volumes from the series are listed. I'm not sure if the type was mislabeled or not (I just noticed it).

What I have done (for the time being) is added it to the "+ Plus these resources" panel in the collection rule.

    Collections have been updated.

Note: Not sure this product (logosres:grksgrtgnapp;ref=Page.p_1) should be included in the Exegetical Commentaries section.

Edit: A number of grammars show up in this collection; is this the expected functionality?

Do you mean technical, or expository? I don't have a collection called exegetical.

Nope - Sorry. It was a collection I'd gotten from somewhere else.

I've updated the rules in the first post. The changes are:

    1. Added 3:16 Bible Commentary Series to Expository Commentaries.
    2. Removed A Body of Divinity from Historical Commentaries (Reformation) as it's not a Bible commentary.
    3. Added Every Christian’s Library to Expository Commentaries.
    4. Added The Fathers of the Church to Historical Commentaries (Antiquity).
    5. Added Rhetorica Semitica to Intermediate Commentaries.
    6. Moved Teach the Text Commentary Series from Expository Commentaries to Intermediate Commentaries.
    7. Added Walking with Jesus to Expository Commentaries.

I think I've managed to tag all of my collection (by joining the FaithLife group and just clicking "copy" on everything).  I hope I had the right idea.  However, I have two questions:

    1.  How do I view the list of everything tagged as, say "commentarycritical"?  (I can see everything tagged when in Library view, but there must be some way to just view those tagged with a specified tag).

    2.  How can I help add more tags?  There are lots of volumes in my library that are still untagged eg. many of the Brazos commentaries are missing the "commentaryexegetical" tag.

enter mytag:commentarycritical or use the collection as a filter at the right hand side of the library search/filter box.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I tried clicking Library and pasing mytag:commentarycritical, but I get nothing, perhaps because it appears as a community tag and not my tag.  I also tried communitytag:commentarycritical, but to no avail.

When you say "as a filter", do you mean just clicking on the column heading of the community tag and then opening each category using the blue arrows ont he left?

I was suggesting that you select it thus:

If you don't see the option there, please show me what you have in the information panel for a resource you want to appear in the list:

    Sample

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I have nothing marked up with "mytag".  All of mine are under Collections eg. Commentaries: the Pentateuch

And, oddly, there are lots missing.  So whilst I have community tags for commentaries: critical, that option doesn't appear on the All Resources drop down you showed in your screengrab.

If you could tell me how to do a screen grab, I can paste, but the Snipping Tool isn't working for grabbing the library...

On a PC PrintScreen gives you a screen shot. I fear I've used SnapIt for so long I've forgotten the details of the built in Windows editing to crop it so you may need to show everything. But looking at a resource you want, what collections appear in the information panel? You should be able to filter on any of the collections appearing there. If there is no commentarycritical collection there AND no commentarycritical in the drop down we have some other type of problem to track down

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

And in the Resource information panel, I have this:

Okay in the library search enter communitytag:commentarycritical or create a collection with that selection so you can select it from the drop down list.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Thank you so much.  That resolved it.  I was trying CommunityTags and Community Tag etc. but not "communitytag".  What's weird is that some of those tags have created collections, and others haven't.  I added them all in the same way.  By copying them over from the Faithlife group...

Yes, there are some inconsistencies that I'm feeling too lazy to sort out now that we have a workable solution.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

That's because the Snipping Tool is invoked on mouse click, not via a keyboard shortcut that leaves popups alone (which is the reason I use Jing most often for captures) - however, if you open the library not in popup mode, but in a seperate tab or window (which I prefer for avoiding the nuisance of it going away) then Snipping Tool will have no issue with it. Just Right-Click the window button and choose:

Then you can play with Snipping Tool:

Have joy in the Lord! Smile

Well, thanks.  That has helped me to search for them.  Can you advise how I can add community tags to the resources that are currently un community tagged?  I have 362 resources with no community tags at all.

  • MJ. Smith
    MJ. Smith MVP Posts: 53,757

Unfortunately, Rayner, I can't. Community tags are just a collection of what other users have entered as my tags. I don't know how many times a tag must appear in individual my tags for it to appear in community tgas. What you'll want to do is tag the untagged resources with my tags and select on both community tag and my tag. At least I think that is how it works.

I take a different approach and use only mytag for collections. When I go to add my missing tags I select on communitytag:nnn ANDNOT mytag:mmm and add the tags I agree with from the list.

Thank you.  That makes good sense.  I guess I might as well just start tagging all of my resources.  ARGH.  That's quite a lot of work!!

And I've just added Rushdoony Commentaries on the Pentateuch to Intermediate and The Hebrew Bible and Its Versions to Technical. Sorry! They were both included in the recently released The Genesis Collection (125 vols). The other commentary collections for John and Revelation were already covered.
