4.0b beta 1 Notes import screwed up formatting

I followed the instructions to update my notes in L3 first before importing, and then imported my "Early Church Fathers TOC" Note file. All the formatting got screwed up.

In L3, it's all organized nicely with headings and sub-headings for the different volumes (never-mind the font and line-spacing inconsistencies; that's the way it was when I got it and I haven't cared to clean it up). Here's pretty much how the Ante-Nicene Fathers TOC looks in L3:

But after importing into L4, it looks like this. (Note how several volumes, and the headings within them, are run together which were separate before):

The same sort of thing happens with the "Nicene & Post Nicene Fathers Series 1" and "Nicene & Post Nicene Fathers Series 1".

Interestingly, the file date still shows as 12/19/2009, even after running "Update Notes Now" in L3. Is that the problem? Did it not actually update them into some format that was readable into L4?

Please 1) enable logging, 2) import notes and 3) send us the log file and the version 3 note file you were importing.

This LDLS 3 note file's HTML is malformed (improperly nested SPAN tags). Internet Explorer renders this reasonably well. However, our converter is less forgiving. We are currently looking into ways to improve this conversion.

Logos 3 renders this reasonably well, too. I guess because it uses IE as a rendering engine for certain things?? In any event, I do hope you can make L4 deal with things like this as well as L3 could. However thanks for pointing out to me that the HTML was malformed. That's something the original author of the file should be made aware of and I'll try to track him down and notify him.

While its good to enforce stricter compliance with standards some type of error message would be very helpful. I've just been fighting Biblical links where again an error message when the link cannot be made would be helpful - the only clue is the text doesn't change color - only I do.[:@]
