SUGGESTION - Allow me to create a clipping that's not linked to a Logos resource.

It would be very handy to be able to add clippings from outside Logos.  If the Add Clipping button in the Clippings window would create a blank entry when no text is selected, then it would make me very happy (perhaps allowing me to define the link field in addition to the title and text fields).

Currently I can do something similar with Notes, but Clippings would be better since it can be tagged appropriately (and possibly have a link).  Of course, adding tagging to Notes would be good, too.

I think I must be misunderstanding because I can click on Clippings under File and create a blank clipping.

    Otherwise I'm a +1 for the suggestions.

Not a blank clippings file, but an individual blank clipping in that file (the Add Clipping button is greyed-out if you don't select text in a resource window).

    This is an EXCELLENT idea.

Right now I use Yojimbo to hold all the quotes I dig up while reading. But wouldn't it be great to have them all in one place, tagged, searchable, and with citations. Logos would need to make some improvements in our ability to sort and search clippings, but what a tool!

I agree, I was just trying to do this over the weekend and thought what a great idea it would be....

I discovered this old post after I drafted a lengthy post suggesting the idea myself.

So, thanks Todd. Great idea. Hope we can bring more attention to this and make it happen.

I'd never heard of Yojimbo but was curious. Found out it runs on the Mac only, but I discovered a free and quick alternative called CintaNotes which looks pretty nice. Collating, searching, sorting, tagging. Global keystroke shortcut to grab stuff from anywhere. It documents the source of whatever I copy into it., whether it be the Web, a Word document, a PDF, even Logos.

Quickly downloaded Cintanotes and installed it on a flash drive as a portable app.  Nice - will probably keep it installed on the flash drive.  It also allows links back to the source.  Now, if only it would allow links to itself, it might serve as another alternative to Logos Notes.  [:)]

    Blessings,
