If you open any Bible, press F7 to bring up the Quick compare versions window, then close it (using ESC), then press F7 again, it doesn't come back up. Odd, but then I figured out why. It's because the focus doesn't go back to the Bible tab that you came from when you press ESC to close that window. It should.
This has been present since 4.0 but I haven't gotten around to reporting it until now. It's still present in 4.0b Beta 2.
