Installing a scholar's gold package upgrade (currently have L3 running on parallels and Mac 1.2.2 version as well)
Please recommend: Install from DVD or download?

Install using the DVD. Most resources will get pulled over and save some download time. however, you will still need to be connected to the internet and L4 will find books that have been updated since the DVD was made thus ensuring you get the most up to date and best resources. Nice to have you aboard the Logos Mac engine :-)
