Today I was repeatedly getting no results in Basic search, and by doing a search for "a" in entire library it became apparent that there were only 4 books in my library index; it seems that when some books downloaded last week the index got replaced rather than merged. I obviously don't have the logs from last week to identify what happened, but thought I'd mention it in case it happens to anyone else while I wait for my index to rebuild
