Can I Read Logos Books on an e-ink reader?

Is it possible to read books from my Logos library on an e-ink reader? I have Vyrso on my iPad, but the iPad isn't the best for reading. I'm thinking there should be a way to read Logos titles on a non-proprietary reader such as Kobo, if not on an Amazon paperwhite.

Any suggestions?

Two answers:

Logos books (or parts thereof) may be exported and those files sent to a Kindle (or potentially another eReader). There are ways to do that now, described in several places in the forum, and it seems Logos is working on a more user-friendly solution.
Logos' Android app will run on some eInk devices - most have to be rooted and may then run an old version of Android, a device that fully supports the app without rooting would be the Boox Lynx / T68

1)Like NB.Mick said, you can export individual resources to read on a Kindle or Nook or Kobo device.

2) Some folks have figured out how to run an older version of Android (Gingerbread) off the SD card on various Kobo devices. If you have a Kobo, this could work. Logos will soon no longer update for Gingerbread, though.

3) I have an Onyx Boox T68. It's E-Ink, a 6.8 in, screen, and runs Android 4.04 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Logos resources work very well on it. Sometimes you have to tap two or three times to get the page to turn, but that's the only real glitch with Logos. The challenge with Onyx products is quality control. I had to return two T68s before I got one that worked as advertised. Others have been luckier. Unless something else is out there that I haven't seen yet, as of now, the T68 is the best E-Ink option for Logos.

Mark, does the T68 use the built in memory for downloaded books, or can it use the Micro SD card?

The T68 has two sections of internal memory: one for apps (480MB) and one for data (about 2.3GB). You can store downloaded eBooks on either the second section of internal memory or on a microSD card. The T68 will find them on either. Logos resources get installed on that larger section of internal memory.

If you do try the T68, order it from Amazon (if you live in a country where you can do so). Then, if it doesn't work out for you, you can return it at no further cost.

I managed to get Android to run on a Kobo Touch. Logos for Android runs quite nicely, although the e-Ink screen is not the most effective for Logos Android. It can be setup to dual boot where you can easily boot into Kobo's original software or Android without problem.

Here is the link for those who have Kobo's. Just make sure that you have a SD Card and read the forum carefully.

You might avoid the T68. I bought one for reading Logos books, and it is working for me, but for the problems that I deal with, it's certainly not worth the $200 that it cost. The problems I'm having are similar to the ones described on the Amazon reviews.

The idea of the T68 is right though. You need an e-ink device that has open android. There are only 2 that I know of currently. The T68 is one and the Icarus Illumina is another one. If I were in the market for another one (and that could be soon if the T68 dies), I would look more into the Illumina.

I really think having a good quality e-ink device to choose will really help Logos' business just because I much prefer to read on one as opposed to reading on an LCD tablet. I'm hoping that we will have more and more choices in that regards.

There's no replacement batteries for the Illumina! So it's the same problem as with my two Nook HD 7" 8GB tablets, I got them Summer 2013. The battery in one is in bad shape by now - it was a little worse than the other when I got them. I got them used:

The funny thing is that the T68 works better as a Logos reader than as an eBook reader - or so it seems to me. It also works well on a couple of other apps, like iBreviary. I am curious about the Illumina. It is also sold under the name Boyue T61 or T62. I wonder if anyone has already installed Logos on it. I'm interested in their experiences with it.
