I know this probably has mentioned in the sub-threads, but I just want to make this more visible on suggestions on dealing with downloads in L4.
1. Please provide an official way to transfer downloads from one computer to another without re-downloading it from the internet.
(I know that there are unofficial ways in the wiki, but they haven't worked for me. We've had numerous concerns about this from people in countries with metered accesses, and even for me in the states, having to dedicate my internet for two days to download everything everytime I re-install is not good)
2. Have the update mechanism choices similar to how microsoft does it. Have the settings
a. never check for updates
b. check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them
c. download updates but let me choose whether to install them
d. automatically download and install updates
And for the options where we can choose, let us select and deselect the resources or cores that we want to update so we know what we are getting and have some expectation on how long it would take.
