Text "Outer Glow" Effect: How to remove for all slides?

Surely I'm missing something as all Bible text and Content text comes with an "Outer Glow" effect and I can't seem to find a way to set a Default Format without this (or other) effect. Thanks for your assistance.

The reason you are seeing an outer glow when creating bible and content slides is because you are using the simple (also known as gradient) backgrounds. By default, these have a certain format and a different default formatting cannot be set. However, you can remove the outer glow by going into the effects menu:

Then if you uncheck the option, it will no longer show up. If you would like to use the same formatting for multiple slides that is different than the default for the background, I encourage you to use the 'reuse items' menu in the 'Add items' drop down menu. This will allow you to use previous items in presentations that have the formatting you desire. Follow this workflow:

1. Create an item
2. Format it in a way that you like
3. Name it something recognizable (such as 'Content template')
4. Whenever you want to use this item (regardless of presentation), go into 'Add item' and search for 'Content template' in the 'Reuse items' menu
5. Once the item is added, customize it for your current presentation
