Today Oct. 18th 2014 iTunes showed me an update for Logos on my first gen iPad.
iOS Development team, thank you! 
I just did two things on the iPad that were sure to crash the app.
- Download several books including the NKJV - no Crash
- Passage Guide and jump to several listed resource - no Crash
