Remove Logos 4 for MAC (now that I have Logos 5)?

Hi!

Question for the many smart people on this Forum...

I have had Logos 5 for a while and need to clear some space on my Hard Drive. I noticed in my Applications Folder than there is still an entry for Logos 4 and one for just Logos (61501.1.35). They are tying up over 300MB (each) and neither have not been opened since early 2013. According to my file manager app Pathfinder, each contains over 1300 items. Logos 5 contains over 1500 items so my suspicion is there might be some duplication of Logos resources here not to mention the newer app is the one I regularly use so the old ones would seem to no longer be needed.

Can anybody tell me if:

1) I can safely remove each of these entries (while not touching Logos 5 app)?

2) Would a simple delete of the in the Application folder be sufficient or is there more housekeeping needed in other folders etc?

Many thanks for the help!

Marty

You should be able to remove those from your Applications folder. However, DO NOT remove the Logos 4 folder from  (YourUserName)/Library/Application Support. All your Logos 5 data is stored in that folder, and is should be several contain GB (depends on your library size)

    That should be sufficient.

For most users, the application is relatively insignificant compared to the stuff "under the hood." What takes up most of the room is the resources and the .db files. There is no reason to fear deleting either of the applications... it is the resource, .db, note files, etc. that you want to likely keep.

Do you remember how you updated your software from L4 to L5? For most users, it would have been an "install in place" installation, which should not have created any duplication...

NOTE: for some strange reason, Logos had to keep "Logos 4" in the file path, even for new installs.

See the wiki article here for help with installing Logos on multiple macs. It should help you figure out some of this. You could also call Logos during business hours and let Logos walk you through it.

Thanks to all of you for your responses! I did delete the superfluous files and all is well.

Yes, simply deleting application folder (and emtpying the trash) is sufficient to free up 319.7 MB.

If want to completely uninstall Logos 4 Mac => https://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#Uninstalling_Logos_4_Mac

Logos 4 Mac has two small parameter list (plist) files in your Library \ Preferences.
