But not at any time, if you look, it asks the material not be re-distributed for a full year after publication.

I can't find that anywhere in the actual license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode. Can you?

There is something about it on http://www.jjmjs.org/copyright.html, but a) from what I understand it is simply a wish, it doesn't change the license, which is binding and irrevocable, and b) it only asks the authors not to republish their articles anywhere else within 12 months. We are not the authors.

They could easily have published with a normal copyright and only changed it to a Creative Commons license a year from now, but they deliberately didn't do that, so presumably they want it CC licensed from now, and not from next year.

But if you want to be sure, you can always write and ask them.

(What we do have to do, though, is follow the attribution rules.)

I can see what you're saying fgh. Its fuzzy enough in my mind not to make the pb for more than private use though. certainly it seems as though waiting a year would be in keeping with spirit of the website authors intent. An email might be a good thing - you may even be able to impose upon them to make the .docx available.
