"No definition found" on iPad when offline?

When I put my iPad into airline mode, or I'm offline for any reason, and I'm working on my iPad, I can't seem to do word searches. I have my NRSV, BDAG, and NA27 all fully downloaded so that I *can* work offline. And I can read all of them successfully.

When I'm on-line, everything's fine. When I long-press on a Greek word in NA27, and touch "look up" in the popup window, I get the lemma/gloss/morph just fine.

But if I'm offline, and touch "look up", the popup only says "no definition found". Why don't I still get the lemma/gloss/morph with my BDAG downloaded?

I looked in settings, but I can't find anything seemingly related there.

Please help?

These searches are performed on the Logos servers and are "online only."

Logos needs to take notice. Most users (in my opinion) now access Logos software with handheld devices. The excuse that mobil app's do not have fast enoegh processors or memory is no longer valid. The Logos app cannot even perform an off-line search restricted to the New Testament. I could not even load the ESV today off-line because of some error when I have this resource downloaded already. I can go on and on. I hope Bob takes notice.

In my opinion, Logos has too much cluter in the Bible app. The more programs under the hood, the more complicated the code is. Proclaim should be a seperate app. Users want to study the Bible using the Bible study app.

Please excuse my spelling. I hope I did not hijack this thread.I wish Logos success.

Which is it? Should Logos push to make the mobile app MORE like the desktop app (creating more clutter by adding MORE features) or less? Or do you presume that the "most users" only care about looking up Greek and Hebrew words offline and Logos should remove all else? (I agree, most "Logos" users now use the mobile app... not because most of the "core" customers use the mobile app, but because the mobile apps are an easy way to bring in new customers. Most of these "customers" probably don't purchase anything).

If you wish to run Logos Desktop on a device you can bring with you anywhere, please take a look at the multiple laptops offered by many vendors that run both OS X and Windows. Concerning mobile processors and memory, we've never made any excuses (to my knowledge). Even the fastest A8 ARM processor is orders of magnitude slower than a typical Intel x86 processor, and this information is widely available if you search around a bit.

This is a known issue for the iOS apps and a case has already been entered. The Android Logos apps don't have any problem with this.

Do you remember the error? If you see this again please use the Send Support Info function available under the Help menu.

As Alabama mentioned, there is a separate Proclaim mobile app. If you don't want to enable Proclaim presentations in the Logos app you can simply turn that off in Settings.

Users want to study the Bible using the Bible study app.

While there are a number of features where I'd like to see to improve usability and productivity, the direct answer to your question is: offline searching, morphology lookup, and BWS. (Passage guide, exegetical guide, and text comparison are similarly restricted; but I don't lean on them for bible study the way I do for the first 3 items I mentioned. Even when I'm online, a very large percentage of the time a morph lookup fails to return or takes a minute or more. Thirty seconds later, if I try it on the same word again, it's instantaneous. Thus I can't depend on the feature's availability or usefulness even when I am online.

The temptation is to figure out why it behaves so inconsistently when online. But I think that misses the point - without a reasonable set of offline search and lookup features, I am prevented from studying the Bible in the app (per your question).

One other weakness, though not as critical, is the limitation on Text Comparison. Allowing only 5 bibles is a shortcoming.
